Do I need a hallmark?
Check whether a UK hallmark is compulsory for your piece, based on metal, weight, and how you plan to describe and sell it.
This checker covers standard weight-based hallmarking exemptions for new-made gold, silver, platinum and palladium articles sold in the UK. It does not cover antique or vintage items (commonly pre-1950), foreign-hallmark recognition, or mixed-metal articles. For any of those, ask your assay office directly.
