See where a chain length sits
Standard necklace lengths, drawn true to scale on an averaged figure, so makers and buyers can picture where a chain will fall before choosing one. Toggle the named ranges, or enter a custom length and pendant drop.
Drawn on an averaged figure with a simplified drape model. Actual sit varies with build, chain weight and clasp position.

Choosing a length
Lengths refer to the total chain, clasp included. Where a chain settles depends on your build, the chain's weight and where the clasp sits, so treat the figure as a guide, not a promise.
- Collar 30 to 33cm. Sits tight to the neck, not for every build.
- Choker 35 to 41cm. At the base of the neck.
- Princess 43 to 48cm. On or just below the collarbone, the most common pendant length.
- Matinee 50 to 61cm. Mid-chest, over knitwear.
- Opera 71 to 86cm. Below the bust, statement drops.
- Rope 90cm and up. Waist-level, often doubled.
Simplified drape model: each length is drawn as the lower half of an ellipse anchored at the neck base, with the opening held at a fixed width. It shows relative fall to scale but is indicative, not an exact fit.
